In the autumn of 2022, I was part of the team behind Curtea lui Pherekyde, a project initiated by the Euxine Association that explored the history and current life of the Pherekyde building on Calea Victoriei 122, an emblematic interwar “author building” designed in 1936 by architect Tiberiu Niga.
The project combined architectural research by Ilinca Pop with surveys on good neighbourliness and a series of meetings between residents and commercial tenants, aiming to open dialogue around the challenges of sharing and preserving a semi-private heritage space. It further proposed cultural routes through courtyards and historic buildings in central Bucharest, fostering community engagement with collective memory and urban heritage.
My role focused on press outreach, press releases, and newsletters, ensuring consistent communication and visibility throughout the project’s three public events.
These included a courtyard gathering focused on the building’s architectural history, a guided tour of the semi-private courtyards along Calea Victoriei and Piața Amzei led by architect Andreea Boldojar, and a final public presentation of the project’s findings — combining historical documentation, survey results, and proposals for future civic engagement.
The project also featured Silent Ornaments, a contemporary art and collectible design exhibition set inside the Pherekyde building and curated in dialogue with its modernist architecture.
Curtea lui Pherekyde was co-financed by the Municipality of Bucharest through ARCUB, as part of the “București afectiv 2022” programme.
